What is saintly scholars ?

Saintly Scholars is an Irish website that comes from a desire to share and talk about scripture, insights and the faith in general, to hopefully have a place where anyone can come to find good solid Catholic content that will build up our community of faith and bring hope and joy rather than despair. I think it’s also important to have a website where the Irish people can show the world that the Catholic church in Ireland is not dead and more importantly we have not all forsaken the religion of those saints and scholars that came before us.

Who am I?

My name is Thomas Patrick Leddy, I come from the west of Ireland. I am Catholic and I enjoy the beautiful faith we have and desire to share it. I was brought up in a practicing Catholic family, I drifted away in my teenage years, then when I was going through a rough patch in my life I realized that I was either in or out and I had to choose. Before deciding I was out, I wondered what would happen if I died and was wrong, I then read the gospels incase I had missed something, I ended up spending three days consuming the new testament and I didn’t care about anything else, when I read the gospels I found something that I never knew existed and it was truly exciting, I started to learn what I could and then found the wonderful Archbishop Fulton J sheen and Mother Angelica on the internet and I started to learn as much as possible from them and other online Catholic speakers and apologists. As time went on I started to meet wonderful people and experience what true community is like by going to prayer meetings and Youth 2000 retreats this showed me a new side to the church a youthful side, this then gave me a lot of hope for the future and still does.
